Unsubscribe Amazon Fire TV Stick – if you want to delete the device from the account
If you no longer want to use the HDMI stick, you can delete it from your Amazon account and thus release it. So it can be linked to another account. Proceed as follows:
Note: By unsubscribing from your Amazon Fire TV Stick, the content on your device will be deleted. This will “free up” the device for new accounts.
- Navigate to the overview of all linked devices in your account * (as described above).
- Select your Fire TV stick by clicking on the three dots to the left.
- In the pop-up you click on “Log out”. Confirms the entry in the following dialog window.
- Now the respective Fire TV set can be linked to another account.
If you reconnect the streaming stick to the same account, the contents will be synchronized again.
How to rename the Amazon Fire TV or Amazon Fire TV Stick

If you only have a streaming device from Amazon at home, confusion is usually ruled out. But as soon as you use more than one stick and link it to your own Amazon account, you should rename the Amazon Fire TV sticks to make it easier to distinguish them.
Rename Amazon Fire TV Stick – that’s how it works
The Amazon Fire TV Stick or TV Stick 4K can be renamed via the Amazon website directly in the browser. Just go like this:
- Log in to the website * with your Amazon account.
- Move your mouse pointer over “My Account” above to expand the drop-down menu.
- Selects the menu item “My content and devices *”.
- Click on the tab “Devices” in the overview above.
- All Amazon devices associated with your account are listed here.
- Select your Fire TV stick by clicking on the three dots to the left.
- In a pop-up you can see more information about the respective stick. Click on “Edit” to the right of the name.
- In the next pop-up you can rename the Amazon Fire TV Stick. Enter a unique name next to “Name of the device”. (e.g., Fire TV Living Room, Bedroom …).
- Click on “Save” to make the change.
Of course, you can always rename the stick again, if the location and purpose changes.
