How To Factory Restores Or Powerwash A Chromebook

A factory reset or Powerwash in Chromebook-lingo means that your computer will dry all local storage and user accounts. Your computer returns to the state it was in when you first opened it. There are a number of reasons to Powerwash your Chromebook. A Powerwash is often recommended when there is a problem with the software or hardware on your Chromebook. Many times, the things we download (apps, extensions, and files) come across the Chromebook feature, leading to the most random stuff. A Powerwash tends to fix these errors by deleting any changes we made to the Chromebook. By clearing all local data, it also provides a speed boost to your Chromebook.

Now that you know why you might want to Powerwash your chromebook, these steps are to redo it: –

On the right side of the shelf at the bottom of the Chrome OS is an option menu where you can access Wi-Fi and Bluetooth options, among other things.

Click Settings in the options menu.

Scroll down to the bottom of the Settings window and click Show Advanced Settings.

When advanced settings are displayed, scroll down to the bottom of the page. There you will find Powerwash as a heading.

Click the button that says Powerwash. A pop-up window will appear asking you to reset the device. Click Restart.

When the Chromebook restarts, this message appears on the screen. Click Reset.
Chrome OS can confirm once again that you want to power your Chromebook. They really want to make sure you want to do this. Don't worry though. It won't hurt your Chromebook in any way.

When you have completed all confirmation, this screen will be displayed for about 10 seconds.

If you do not want to paint your device, do not touch the switch or anything in general until the power source is ready.

Chrome OS will now greet you with the welcome screen you saw when you started the Chromebook. Set up your account and settings and you’re good to go with a new untouched Chrome OS.

You may often have to stream your Chromebook, but it shouldn’t be a problem because most of your stuff would be stored in the cloud anyway. However, you would lose all content in the local download folder. To keep the contents of the local download folder backed up in Google Drive, see this article.

How to add Dropbox Or OneDrive On Chrome OS

If you own a Chromebook, you know that Google Drive is tightly integrated with the File Manager on Chrome OS. All files stored on Google Drive are available for easy access in the Files app, making it easy to transfer files to and from the cloud. What if your primary cloud storage service is not Google Drive, though? Thankfully, the Files app on Chrome OS supports integration from cloud storage services like Dropbox and OneDrive. Let’s see how you can integrate the cloud storage provider you want with your Chromebook. In this guide we follow the steps for installing Dropbox, but OneDrive can be installed by following very similar steps. I will point out the differences in the steps when they arise

Dropbox

The first step is to go to the Chrome Web Store and search for “File System for Dropbox”. If you want to install OneDrive, look for “File System for OneDrive” instead.

  1. Click the “Add to Chrome” button to install Dropbox on your Chromebook.
  2. Once your application is installed, you will see it on the App box, which you can reach by pressing the unique “Search” button on the Chromebook or by clicking on the circular icon that is first on the shelf. This search window requires, and Dropbox appears as a newly installed app. (If you installed OneDrive, it should be displayed the same way.)

3. If you do not see the icon under the search bar already, look for “Dropbox” or “OneDrive” in this window, and the icon should appear in your results

4. When you open the app, it will ask for permission to mount your cloud storage data to your Chromebook.

5. Click on Mount, and a window will pop up asking you about your login details. Fill in your details and log in.

6. Click “Allow” when the app asks you to access your Dropbox files.

7. After completing all these steps, you should see your Dropbox folder in the left sidebar of the Files app.

Similarly, if you installed OneDrive, your files should appear in the File app. All your files on the cloud, whether it be OneDrive or Dropbox, will now be easily accessible and transferable in your built-in Files program.
